DIVISION 1 side Wotton claimed the biggest scalp in exciting third round knockout football when the Stag Beer Championship Cup continued at the Wildey AstroTurf on Sunday night.

Wotton crushed Premier League side Ellerton 5-2 to storm into the Round of 16, courtesy a Shakim Shepherd brace, coupled with strikes from Jabarry Chandler and Rico Baptiste, plus a Javon Austin own goal.

Wotton’s win was achieved despite Jacobi Nicholls and Damian Small twice equalising for the St George side to eventually force extra time.

A devastating 11-minute spell from Wotton put the game beyond reach as they blanked Ellerton in the second half of extra time. (ML)
