Sick bug strikes

THE BARBADOS PORT Inc (BPI) was crippled yesterday after it collapsed under the weight of increased industrial action from the Barbados Workers’ Union (BWU).

Along with the country’s sea port-of-entry, the Grantley Adams International Airport (GAIA), the Barbados Transport Board and the Caribbean Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) were also hit with bouts of workers calling in sick.

This action comes following an image circulated on social media on Tuesday, suggesting that workers may be too sick to work on Wednesday, July 19, and Thursday, July 20.

At the Port from early yesterday, dozens of workers could be seen exiting the Port’s main gate. (AD)
