GUESTS TRAVELLED DOWN the iconic US highway Route 66, the theme for the US Embassy’s celebration earlier this month in honour of that country’s 241st anniversary of independence.

There were Americans, Barbadians and people of several other nationalities sharing in the festivities at the Embassy’s Wildey headquarters, and US ambassador Linda Taglialatela reminded them that Route 66, one of the original US highways, had cemented that country’s reputation as the land of opportunity.

The ambassador cut the anniversary cake and toasted with Minister of Tourism Richard Sealy, before guests tucked into the smorgasbord of American fare and copious drink served up around the attractively lit grounds. (GC)
