Plastic Oceans Trust joins fight

PLASTIC OCEANS TRUST BARBADOS is joining the fight against the use of plastics.

Showing solidarity with the Future Centre Trust, the environmental non-governmental organisation is promoting and supporting the plastic deterrent charge, which aims to significantly reduce single-use plastics.

The Plastic Ocean Trust also seeks to petition government for a complete ban on Styrofoam to be replaced by vegetable-based products and help support recycling programmes across the island.

Speaking recently at a Plastic Oceans Trust conference at Cave Shepherd, Worthing, Christ Church, trustee Connie Smith said the environmental body was highly concerned about the proliferation of plastic products and its impact on health, economic prosperity and the environment. (SB)
