Tropical Storm Harvey devastates family

IF HOME IS where the heart is then Richard Cox may just be heartbroken.

Yesterday, Tropical Storm Harvey crawled its way across Barbados, bringing eight inches of rain and flash flooding to many areas across the island.

The communities of Gilles Terrace and Around The Town in St Peter were among the hardest hit.

Cox, of Gilles Terrace, was unfortunate to lose most of his possessions to the flooding.

However, he was extremely fortunate to escape with his life as the deluge almost swept him, his house, his mother and his two children away in the wee hours of the morning.

It took a combination of community spirit, rope and, accordingly to Cox, Jesus, to ensure that what was lost was purely physical and not personal. (AD)
