CARIFESTA XIII breaks new dawn tomorrow as thousands gear up for an opening street parade that starts at Queen’s Park and ends at Kensington Oval after the first attempt was upstaged by the passing of Tropical Storm Harvey yesterday.

Organisers of the regional festival were upbeat during a press conference chaired by Minister of Culture Stephen yesterday at which it was revealed the official ceremony would be inclusive of the parade starting at 3:30 p.m.

The culturalists will leave Queen’s Park make their way to the Oval via St Michael’s Row, Jubilee Gardens, Cheapside, Fontabelle for a preshow at 4:30 followed by the opening ceremony at 5:30 p.m.

Lashley told reporters at his Sky Mall, Haggatt Offices that despite the storm’s intrusion, no losses were incurred and producers of the festival were still within the budget. (TG)
