Eclipse draws excited viewers

BARBADIANS GOT GLIMPSES of the partial solar eclipse yesterday despite some cloud cover and showers. 

Several hundred people gathered at the Harry Bayley Observatory in Clapham, St Michael, and waited with bated breath after cloud cover blocked the view of the sun.

Almost 20 minutes after the expected 2:30 p.m. start, the first glimpse elicited cheers of excitement, but it lasted for only a few seconds in the first instance.

Twenty-two children from the Pinelands Seventh-Day Adventist Church Pathfinders and Adventurers group were at the observatory. (LK)
