Poll predicts NNP win

Published on: 7/5/08.

ST GEORGE'S – Grenada's incumbent New National Party (NNP) of Prime Minister Dr Keith Mitchell appears headed for an unprecedented fourth consecutive term in government, says a new poll from the New York-based North American Caribbean Teachers Association (NACTA).

According to the poll conducted by NACTA last week, the NNP has increased its lead in popular support to 11 per cent over the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) led by Tillman Thomas to win the 12 seats in Tuesday's general election.

"This lead in popular support will give the party a majority of seats to retain the government . . . The NNP has the upper hand because voters trust the NNP more than they trust the NDC," said NACTA in a release to the Press.

The NDC which won seven of the 15 seats in the 2003 elections has dismissed the latest NACTA poll as "laughable". (CMC)
