Worrell's first day back

FORMER DEPUTY GOVERNOR of the Central Bank of Barbados, economist Dr DeLisle Worrell, returned to the bank yesterday as its sixth governor.
"It's good to be back, and I look forward to working with the Central Bank's excellent senior management team, and our colleagues in the Ministries of Finance and Economic Affairs to fulfil the bank's responsibility to help the economy through these difficult times," a Press release stated.
Worrell previously worked at the institution from 1973 when he held positions of manager of the research department, divisional director of research and served as deputy governor from 1990 to 2000, when he retired.
He then joined the International Monetary Fund as a technical assistance advisor and later served as the executive director of the Caribbean Centre for Money and Finance.
His appointment followed the departure of Dr Marion Williams last week.
