Be ye ready, warns pastor

Published on: 7/17/2009.

GOD IS NOT A BAJAN; and this year, Barbados will be rocked with high-profile deaths and natural disasters.

This is the word of God, according to Senator Peter Millington, who said he had received these prophetic words over the course of the year.

In an interview with the WEEKEND NATION, Millington said he was reluctant to come forward with what he was told at first, expecting to be ridiculed, but felt compelled after God told him to speak "whether they listened or not".

"I am sensing something very terrible. Whether it be a 7.5 earthquake, a Category 3 hurricane or a tsunami, I don't know but Barbados is no longer considered a godly country, despite having many churches.

"And what God is doing now is judging us," he said.

Millington, who is the pastor of the Worship and Breakthrough Centre in 2nd Avenue, Greaves Land, Goodland, St Michael, said he regularly received messages from God on Old Year's Night, but last year they took an ominous turn as he was told 2009 would be a year of judgement.

Signs

He said he saw signs such as eroding beachfronts and the pervasiveness of the giant African snail as indicators of the coming turmoil.

"The principal reason is because Barbados has turned from God. So this year many people will die suddenly, some holding high office, and we will see church ministers being cut off, falling sick and dying because God is not happy with their leadership," he said.

Millington said there was no longer the fear of God in Barbados' churches and many "had joined Satan in accusing each other".

"When a minister can come on air and publicly rejoice when another minister falls is ungodly and unscriptural. It is this type of behaviour that God has to visit the church and set it in order, and when the dust has settled, then Barbados will know who is of God and who is not of God," he said.

Millington said it was now too late to avert the coming disaster as God had saved Barbados many times before but, due to the continuing wickedness in Barbados, any cries for help would now fall on deaf ears.

However, he said it was not a totally hopeless situation. He said the true people of God had no need to fear and he himself was unafraid and would not be leaving the island.

Encouragement

He said he had been encouraging his congregation to collect water and stock canned food. Millington said he was prepared to meet with the Department of Emergency Management.

He said anyone who took him seriously could contact him at his worship centre Wednesdays and Fridays from 7 p.m and Sundays from 9 a.m.

"You don't have to panic. Simply do the right thing and get ready physically and spiritually [for what is to come]," the pastor said. (CA)

False Phrophecy : 7/17/2009
God did not promise us immunity from disasters and the like, and the law of averages tells us that sooner or later there is a likelihood that we will be struck by some kind of a disaster or catastrophe. Tis may occur whether Barbadians are Godly or otherwise. I am a believer and I do believe that God's judgement will come in God's own time and He will not let anyone into that secret, not even the Angels in Heaven. Pastors should not preach gloom and doom to scare people into serving God, they should try preaching the gospel sincerely and earnestly. What we are seeing throughout the world are signs of the end times as recorded in Holy scriptures.

Not Completely Unlikely : 7/17/2009
There has been a notable rise in sea temperatures this summer and giant Humboldt Squid which are known to attack people have been showing up along the coast of San Diego, California. Over the the UK, they are having a similar problem with Lion mane Jellyfish that have grown to half a metre (5 times the normal size) washing up on the beaches of Aberdeen in Scotland. The sea temperature rise is significant so it's not completely unlikely that something unusual could happen during hurricane season.

The Senator Prophet : 7/17/2009
Senator- Why not tell us that 2 years ago in May, you "prophesied" we would be hit with 2 hurricanes in June and if your "prophecy" did not come to pass you would quit the ministry. Forgot that one? Now, you are back at it. I hope you have enough integrity to zip your mouth.... you are a Senator now if that means anything to you and your colleagues in the Senate. Well Barbados can boast of having the only Senator-Prophet in the Caribbean. With all the "predictions" you have made over the years, one of these days, you got to come good... until then you continue to enbarrass your Prime Minister and all of us in Barbados.

Tarr & Fether : 7/17/2009
Stupse! It shows that there are more mad people outside of Jenkins than ever. It seems that they have now migrated to our senate. The above article was as funny as Edgar Allen Poe's "The system Of Dr. Tarr and Prof. Fether".

Money money money : 7/17/2009
Amazing how christians always quote the bible when it suits them but are always quick to say "i am only human". If Barbados is no longer a godly place its because of the greed exhibited by the peoiple in the church. Do you think if Jesus was on earth now he would be driving the biggest Jeep he could find and living in the biggest house he could afford, or would he be using his wealth to help the poor and needy? hmmmmmmm You cant scare me enough to get 10% of my salary no time soon. Hell no.

Here we go again, another soothsayer driving fear into people's hearts to scare them into his school-church. These people call themselves prophets. Peter thinks too much of himself. The voice of Peter is the voice of God! Stick to playing music man and leh we wukup. Your friend in New York Rev.Dr.Paul Lewis - another scaremonger whom you held a service with here last year - also preaches gloom and doom. Peter needs an audience with Rev Holmes Williams of the Peoples Cathedral who recently broke land at St.Davids in Christ Church to erect a $43 million complex with his family at the helm so maybe Holmes knows something. Or, maybe, Peter should build "Peter's Ark" on either the St.George or St.Thomas coastline. He can charge $100 for early bookings and $1000 for those who show up late trying to get away from the rain water. The year only has about 5 more months, so hurry Peter.
