REVEREND PETER MILLINGTON has resigned from the Senate of Barbados with immediate effect.
Not only that, but he has tendered his resignation from the Democratic Labour Party (DLP) as well.
In a SATURDAY SUN exclusive, Millington said he felt "it was time" to leave after much prayer and soul-searching.
"After weeks of prayer and much consultation with very close members of my Christian circle, I am at peace with the decision.
"I seek God in everything I do. If He tells me to run, I run; if He tells me to sit, I sit; if He tells me to speak, I speak, and I believe this is the time to resign," he said.
When asked whether it was God who told him to resign, he replied, "yes, very much so".
He added that he was not forced or asked to resign and he was thankful for the opportunity he had to serve Barbados.
"I shall really miss the late Sir John Stanley Goddard, one of the most wonderful people I have ever known in the Senate . . . but I have to obey God; I cannot say I am perfect but I am trying to be obedient.
"There has been no run-ins or heated discussions with anyone in the Senate or the DLP, I just believe it is my time to resign," he said.
Millington again stressed it was not a hasty decision, as he said he had felt uncertain of his place in both organisations "for months", which was reinforced when he was contacted by people who he said he highly respected and trusted.
"Some time ago, two people whose prophetic insight I trust told me I needed to move on, but even then I struggled with the decision and after much prayer, I finally feel comfortable," he said.
As for his future, Millington said his next steps would become known as soon as "God gives me the clarity" but added he still believed he had a contribution to make to society.
Millington recently spoke out against the rise of crime in Barbados in relation to the lack of discipline and blamed psychoanalysts for making excuses for the criminals.
In July, he was reported in the NATION as prophesying high-profile deaths and natural disasters for Barbados as he said the country had turned from God.

GET RID OF THE DLP NOW;They dont know what they are doing> Thompson ! you had your wish please let go now. you wanted to be called Prime Minister
BAJAN YANKEE : 10/17/2009
Anyone who calls someone a Bajan Yankee is a very ignorant person. In order to be called Yankee referrers to bred and born New Englanders. Many southerners used that that term these people also called us N’s. That being said the schools in Barbados ought to educate the students who in turn can educate their dumb parents. By the way, when one of those Bajan Yankees sends you any money or a barrel full of items that you can show off sent it back. Do not apply for a visa to come to the USA. In the 1960-80’s large numbers of my Barbadian brethren emigrated to England, Canada and the USA this created many opportunities for those living at home. Overseas Barbadians are a major source of hard foreign currency that enables the people to enjoy such a high standard of living.
Very Cruel comments : 10/17/2009
These comments seem to be coming form those greedy heartless bums who take their aging parents to QEH and never go back for them. The same parasites are living rent-free in their parent houses.
Save me from the judgement of the saints who were never caught. : 10/17/2009

Trust and Obey : 10/17/2009
Rev. Peter Millington, God has done miracles in your life. May God continue to rest in you as you listen to his call. May he bless you as you continue to trust and obey him. Continue to pray everyday that you will follow his path. Read Proverbs 3:5-6 Your Brother in Christ and fellow bajan in New York
Peter The Great! : 10/17/2009
Amazing! One wonders how God has become so partial that he speaks to some and not others. I believe that Rev. Millington's first order of business should be to seek some psychiatric help. I appreciate him sparing the taxpayers of Barbados a tenure in the Senate devoid of anything tangible and lasting. I believe the biggest beneficiaries of his departure will be the taxpayers who had to pay and feed him when he went to the Senate. His buddies in the DLP are not loosing anything either, they are getting rid of "dead wood". I feel sorry for his Christian flock. They ought to be vigilant! Bajan in NJ.
Great Oppurtunity : 10/17/2009
These guys should carry around a well charged tape recorder, to record the lord/god's voice when he speaks to them, what does he sound like... bajan, yankee or trini, and if you hearing voices in your mind you should check into the black rock clinic and get a check up, to make sure you're okay quit using god or the devil as a scapegoat for the choices or decisions you make in life, its time god come out of the darkness go on CNN or some other network, and make his intentions clear to the world, as Thompson, or Obama would on the television of their respective countries.

Billy-Bob, I suppose in the days of Noah when he was warning the people before the flood came they said the same or a similar thing: sounds like crap. Don't be too quick to judge people.
God is good all the time : 10/17/2009
God is and will always be with the people of Barbados. I remember when last the D.L.P was in power. One who is now Rev W. Hall was call by the same God.His vote at that time was one that God had a hand in. It was then that our lovely country began to grow.Peter, (a small rock)God is with you and he have a plan for you. Tessalonians 3:14-28 read my freind and obey the word, may the good Lord be with you...Your in Christ M.J.LEE.

God's will : 10/17/2009
God works in mysterious ways, His wonders to perform. God gave each and everyone of us a conscience, so let your conscience be your guide. Continue to pray to God for guidance.
GOD'S WILL : 10/17/2009
sounds like crap. I take it that the devil sent him to the senate in the first place. The man is obviously bored - how much work are they doing in the senate these days?
: 10/17/2009
Peter Millington never ceases to amaze me. God will deal with you in the near future. Hypocrite.
