THE INDEPENDENCE SPIRIT is running through the corridors of West Terrace Primary School.
A service and flag-raising ceremony was held at the St James school yesterday morning to launch the annual month of activities.
Reverend Wayne Kirton from the John The Baptist Church told the pupils that pride encompassed good behaviour, discipline, keeping their surroundings clean, being polite and not using foul language.
Principal Ovid Gibbs encouraged his charges to be thankful for all their blessings.
School tours, a display of Barbadian artefacts, an essay competition, Independence Quiz and a speech contest are among activities for the month.

Pride : 11/3/2009
I believe we should remove pride from our National Anthem. It should be: Respect and Dignity.
