HOSPITAL MANAGEMENT ALLOWED the WEEKEND NATION to photograph the morgue yesterday. Director of Support Services (Acting) Louise Bobb supervised the visit which showed the security measures taken.
There is a security camera surveilling those using the stairs leading to the morgue.
Anyone entering the morgue needs an electronic security pass since the door does not open without one. On the inside, there are two refrigerators facing each other with individual drawers. Each drawer is numbered. The temperature in both refrigerators is set at 38 degrees Fahrenheit.
The morgue attendant assisting Bobb, Cecil Phillips, displayed one of the shroud bags the hospital places the deceased in and opened one of the drawers which he said was usually locked from the outside.
After the tour, all parties exited the morgue.
The WEEKEND NATION team observed however that no electronic key was needed to leave the morgue. Anyone leaving could exit by pressing a switch next to the door. (MR)
TO BAJAN : 11/7/2009
I HAPPEN TO READ YOUR COMMENT AND IT IS NOT ME YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT .REMEMBER WE ARE NOT HERE TO TALK ABOUT OTHERS AND THEY SPELLING BUT TO FOCUS ON OUR COUNTRY AND ITS HEALTH CARE SYSTEM IF YOU ARE A STRONG BELEIVER OF GOD ,REMEMBER "WHO ARE YOU TO JUDGE"?AND I MADE ONE OR TWO MISTAKE "CORRECT THEM PLEASE".
QEH CLEAN UP THE MORGUE : 11/6/2009
WELL, THE QEH FINALLY GOT A CLEAN UP OF THEIR MORGUE. COME ON, QEH THINK PEOPLE STUPID. IT'S OBVIOUS THEY CLEAN UP THE MORGUE, AND THEN CALLED IN THE NATION.. WHO THEY FOOLING..
BAD ENGLISH : 11/6/2009
i ALSO FEEL ASHAMED TO READ THE MANY MISTAKES AND BAD ENGLISH WRITTEN IN THESE COMMENTS. WOULD YOU NOT POST THEM WITHOUT CORRECTION? EVEN WE ARE GLAD THAT OTHERS ARE INTERESTED IN THE HAPPENINGS IN BARBADOS. SOMETIMES SOME LITLE MISTAKES DO GET AWAY. HELP US OUT PLEASE.

QEH opens up morgue but one has to wonder; what cosmetics did the QEH apply to the morgue make themselves look good. I call it cosmetics because the other word would have been to harsh and libelous
To the Person who Commented on Concerned Bajan in Mass : 11/6/2009
You have dealt with the previous writer in a proper and appropriate way. I agree that his or her command of the English is no better than that of the other writers. That person should be quite ashamed to type such comments. He/she really needs to consult a dictionary for spelling assistance and the Holt Handbook for grammar usage. Just muh 2 cents worth....
Video : 11/6/2009
Something seems very fishy with this story. I would think that the public would like to see the video taken from the camera the night/day of this incident, since the hospital claims it has a security camera. Showing the morgue now does not make much of a difference.

To Concerned Bajan in Mass, I don't normally do this but here is something to remember, when you are going to tell the Nation about Proof Reading before they print any article, just remember that you can do the same for yourself. Look at the passage in parenthesis at the bottom and see if you can find your own mistakes....the word is "reflection", ....then the statement should have read (pronounced red) "I know we have people who belong to both parties", "positive" and last but not least "I hope you will print this in your paper for me", here are your comments below, there is a tool called Spell Check and it works. "If the English is bad do not print their comments because it is a replection on your paper also. I know that we have who are for one party or another but I hope that your paper will not be bias and should print all comments whether the comments are possitive or negative for or against both parties. I do not belong to any one party. I belong to God's party and He will reign forever and ever. Amen. I hope that you will print this comment in your for me. May God bless the people of Barbados and the present Government. Concern Bajan in Mass/CRS The reason for this is to let you know it is good to know you belong to God's party, but the bible also speaks of "cleaning the mote of your own eye before you try to clean someone else eye, I cut and paste you spelling for you to see, yes you can do that on the computer too, just in case you did not know Have a good life

These people live abroad and they read the news papers, watch the news on TV or hear from other bajans working in hospitals how these things happen from time to time. Especially the bajans who live in the Brooklyn, Bronx or the Queens boroughs. These people know how to live in fear of their lives. New York is a state of over eight million people. Barbados is 166 square miles with 270 thousand people living there. When negative things happen in Barbados the whole Island know about. These people that are blogging on your paper should think before they start writing and also try spelling the words correctly. Many people buy the Nation New paper and when they see the grammar that is written they have a good laugh. Nation News paper when you are printing the comments in your paper you should have people proof read the comments for proper English. If the English is bad do not print their comments because it is a replection on your paper also. Concern Bajan in Mass/CRS

I would like the nation to carry out a poll asking the public if they would have had an "old" loved one who would have died in the hospital approx 3-4 hours after visiting hours. My three grandparents all died 3-4 hours after visiting hours. Is this a coincidence????
: 11/6/2009
Every now and then we are innocently drafted into incidents not of our making. This is one such time for Ms Bobb. I can sense her pressure. Is your job going through the eddoes MS Bobb that you are fighting so hard against the odds? Retired

ADMIT THE TOE TAG WAS PUT ON THE WRONG MAN AND HE WAS SENT TO THE MORGUE WITHOUT A BODY BAG AND THE MORGUE ATTENDANDT COULDD NOT CARE LESS AND PAY NO ATTENTION TO DETAIL AND STOP WASTING TIME AND LOKING FOOLISK MORE AN MORE.
: 11/6/2009
okay smart Lousise, let them view the footage or did somebody deactivate the camera and the security door also. Was the door closed since the man in the white coat was sitting there eating? So much for your security that you can just press a switch and exit. I don't even believe Scantlebury needed to press a switch.
Issue Still Not Resove : 11/6/2009
Look this visit has still not put to restthe rumours. If someone is on theinside of the morgue they can easily exit. Show the video/DVD of theara during that period. This will make moe sense. It was interesing to note that after the tour all parties exited the morgue. I thought that was funny.
