Rough seas close Logos

Published on: 11/3/2009.

Rough seas have temporarily ended Bajans' proposed trips to one of the world's leading floating libraries.

Logos Hope, the world's largest floating book fair which sailed into Barbados last week, has been forced to close its business to the public, after rough waters off the Flour Mill along the Springer Garden Highway, forced the vessel's captain to move it to safe harbour.

According to a press release issued yesterday, Logos Hope officials made the decision to anchor a few yards away in the Bridgetown Harbour because of unfavourable conditions which started yesterday.

"This decision is made in the interest of safety for the public, the crew and staff and the vessel," the release stated. "Logos Hope is now closed until further notice."

It is expected that a grain ship will require the use of the Flour Mill berth this week and, due to this, it is uncertain how soon Logos Hope will be able to return and open to the public again.

More information on when the boat reopens is expected to be communicated when available. (BA/PR)
