SUMMA IS JUST 14, and her younger sister Autum Davis is a mere nine years old, but they have already formed their own Internet company and show, and are well on the road to being trailblazers.
Seasons Two Productions, the name of the company, is so called to reflect the two seasons - Summer and Autumn.
For many in the entertainment arena, and those who visit the Headliners and Celebration Time calypso tents, Summa and Autum are known as the duo who conducts interviews, videotapes the calypsonians during live performances, and place the interviews and performances on You Tube for Internet users.
To date calypsonians Mikey, Young Blood, Keean Walters, Statement, Tara Holdipp and Justin King have had their interviews and songs carried live on the Internet through the girls' Back Stage With Your Host Autum show.
It all started when Summa and Autum were watching a show called I Carly on television.
They decided that cousins Demikco Hinds 7, and his sibling Gabrielle, 5, together with Autum, would conceptualise a web show. However, Demikco and Gabrielle felt their parents would not allow them to have their faces "out there" on the Internet.
Summa and Autum still wanted to produce their own web show, and with the blessings of their parents David Davis, also known as D2, and nail specialist mum Christine Hinds-Davis, the two started to make plans.
They came up with the name Crop-Over 2K Shine, but this name did not meet their dad's approval. Their next choice was Back Stage With Your Host Autum. This got his approval and so the show got on the road, with Summa being responsible for the editing, and Autum the interviews.
Both of them got started without formal training. They did, however, received pointers from their godmother Carol-Ann Scantlebury.
"Our first interview was of Mikey. All of the interviews are for a duration of less than ten minutes, so we have to do lots of editing," disclosed Summa, a third-year student at Christ Church Foundation School.
"The advantage we have is that as children we can get the artistes to do things they normally would not do for adults," Autum, a pupil of St David's Primary School stated.
The sisters disclosed that their decision to have a web show was really to help with their personal development.
"We wanted to increase our self-esteem, so when we get older, we would be able to better relate to people," Summa stated.
Added to this is the fact that Autum, who wants to be a professional model, simply loves asking questions.
"I love asking questions and I enjoy having the videos uploaded to You Tube, and placed on facebook so everyone can see them," Autum noted.
Both are lovers of soca music and Summa, who won a soca competition at her alma mater St David's Primary school, admits to possessing a love for "anything that has to do with the arts".
"I love music and I love art. This year my father even wrote a song for me to enter the Junior Calypso Monarch Competition but I did not like it."
The sisters' quest to have their own web show was also supported by their uncle Roland Bascombe - a fashion designer.
"He lends us his video camera and we use a Mac computer which belongs to my dad to produce our show.
The two are willing to accept sponsorship in any form from interested persons.
Outside of producing their web show, Summa and Autum love to sing, watch television and - this should be no surprise - surf the Internet.
What exactly will they do after Crop-Over? They have their plans.
"We will be backstage at restaurants, schools, businesses . . . ." says Summa. The list is long.
Meanwhile, the two, whose voices can be heard on radio ads promoting the Headliners and Celebration Time tents, will continue to promote the calypsonians.
And, if you're looking for their productions, simply go to You Tube, type in Back Stage With Your Host Autum, or, should you be on facebook, join the group BackStage With Your Host Autum.

Hope these kids are being supervised on the internet. Demikco/ Gabrielle parents "got sense" not to have their kids faces on you tube / internet,as it won't help their personal development.

This is great story and the Young and Gifted column serves well in highlighting Barbadian children and young people. Tell Mrs. Harewood to keep up the good work.
