PROSPECTIVE LOW-INCOME HOMEOWNERS will soon get spots in the north and south of the island.
Minister of Housing and Lands Michael Lashley told the House of Assembly on Tuesday that the ministry had been informed that there was land at Cluffs, St Lucy, with space for 50 house spots.
He said all that remained to be done was to vest this land in the Government-owned National Housing Corporation (NHC) so that the property could be smoothly conveyed and owners could have good title.
Lashley promised to take the proposal for Cluffs to Cabinet so that people in St Lucy would be empowered.
Headded that in Coverley, Christ Church, the NHC had just started building 50 houses and had recently got Town Planning permission to build another 300.
The minister noted these developments as he piloted the passage of a resolution to vest Crown land at The Ivy, St Michael, in the NHC. (RJ)
