Three men shot in gang revenge

Published on: 11/18/2009.

HAMILTON, Bermuda - The latest spate of gang shootings are revenge attacks for a murder that took place six months ago, police have revealed.

Three men have been gunned down in six days as feuding gangs try to settle old scores on the streets of Pembroke.

Superintendent Antoine Daniels told the Bermuda Sun the shooters were out to avenge the killing of Kenwandee Robinson on May 22.

Robinson, 27, was shot dead as he sat with a group of friends on St Monica's Road - home to the 42 gang.

Daniels, who heads up the Serious Crimes Unit, said the shootings were reprisals by the 42 gang against the Parkside gang, who they believe are responsible for the drive-by shooting of Robinson.

He added: "The two most recent shootings are related and we believe they have been committed by the same gang - the 42 gang against their rivals the Parkside gang.

"And it seems clear that they are reprisal attacks for the shooting of Kenwandee Robinson last May."

On October 31, a 21-year-old man was shot in broad daylight in Glebe Road, Pembroke.

The victim suffered gunshot wounds to his upper torso but was discharged from hospital the day after the attack.

Two men were arrested in connection with the incident but both have since been released on bail.

And just a week ago two men were gunned down in the area of King Street and Middletown Lane, Pembroke.

The 24-year-old Pembroke man and a 31-year-old Devonshire man were taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital with gunshot wounds on Friday evening.

The Devonshire man has since been released while the Pembroke man is still in hospital after undergoing surgery.

A 26-year-old Pembroke man was arrested in connection with the double shooting but has since been released on bail.
