PORT-OF-SPAIN - A 53-year-old woman appeared in court yesterday charged with robbing former West Indies cricket captain Brian Lara.
Police charged the former housemaid, Ann Marie Marcano, with stealing items from Lara's residence during the period January 2005 to February this year.
She pleaded not guilty and was released on TT$50 000 (BDS$16 600) bail. She will reappear in court on Thursday.
Last week, the Trinidad Guardian newspaper said that police had recovered several items at the house of a former employee of Lara as they investigated a multi-million dollar theft at his home last Tuesday.
Police said that nearly TT$500 000 (US$83,300) in various currencies and half-a-million dollars in jewellery were in the safe that also contained several tickets for the February 18 concert by American R&B superstar Beyoncé that Lara's events company is involved with, as well personal documents and contracts. Dude, look... : 2/9/2010
...it seems that you reired from cricket prematurely. Now you got too much time on your hands, and it's costing you.
I think you should un-retire and go and help those over-matched, out-witted bat and ball players called the West Indies cricket team.
Come on dude, have some fun, and thrill your fans for two years or so.
Put your treasure in a strong safe bank so that lowlifes can't rip you off.
