Repair those sugar mills
AN ARTICLE in the WEEKEND NATION of October 23 about the sugar mills still in existence around the countryside caught my attention.
I wonder if, with the full cooperation of all concerned, these mills could be repaired as far as possible, and proper signage placed at the sites, so that this could add to our land-based attractions to visitors and locals.
Sugar and slavery are part of our history, and our development. Once the necessary refurbishment and so on has been undertaken, there can be specific tours dealing with the sugar industry from its infancy to our current methodology in producing sugar.
