Town centre still in works for Oistins

AN OISTINS TOWN CENTRE is still in the works, says Minister of Public Works John Boyce, who is also the parliamentary representative for the area.

Speaking Sunday at the ceremony to rename the Oistins Fish Market the Berinda Cox Fish Market, he said: "I am committed to the continued development of Oistins to include many . . . top-class facilities."

Some of the other improvements he said would include a well-appointed bus terminal, including opportunity for park and ride; facilities for the Constituency Council of Christ Church South; new welfare facilities; more enhanced and better beach facilities; and more areas for vending, including a permanent home for craft and fruit vending.

"Oistins must aim to be a completely sustainable town centre and not the two-day wonder we are accustomed to now.

"The great challenge of course is for Oistins at the same time remain the home for so many Christ Church residents who call her that," he added. (TM)
