Logos Hope filled with messages, books
BOOK-HUNGRY BARBADIANS can have their appetites satisfied over the next two weeks with a visit to the Logos Hope.
In welcoming the ship and its crew from more than 45 countries to Barbados yesterday, Minister of State in the Ministry of Education Patrick Todd said he was pleased to know that the largest floating book fair in the world, with more than 6 000 titles, was docked at the Flour Mill site on Spring Garden, St Michael, until November 15.
"We appreciate the wide range of content represented including science, sports, hobbies, cookery, economics, medicine, languages and faith. We can say without fear of contradiction, that the exposure of Barbadians to such a wide collection of publications will benefit our people tremendously, both intellectually and spiritually.
Indeed the wide range of literature on board offers patrons many opportunities for personal development," Todd said.
Logos Hope director Gian Wasler thanked God for making it possible that "today we have a fantastic tool to bring knowledge, help and hope to the people of the world."
Captain of the vessel Dirk Colenbrander said they wanted to bring a message of hope, adding that God's Word "has a message for each person on this island." (DS)
