Danger sign
by TYRONE EVELYN
SEVEN HORSES came face-to-face with danger at the Garrison Savannah yesterday.
It occurred in The Rotherley Construction Inc. Stakes & Trophy race in which Indanger left his seven other opponents "bruised, battered and bewildered".
Confidently ridden by Anderson Trotman in the 1570-metre event, the day's feature race, Indanger did not disappoint his many backers who installed
him odds-on favourite as he ran out a ridiculously easy winner.
Sent to the front shortly after the 1 570-metres gates were opened, the Roger Parravicino-trained Indanger turned the race into a procession and although the official margin of victory was three lengths, it could have been more had jockey Trotman so desired.
Coasted home
Trotman was looking around for non-existent danger up the home stretch and having not seen any, he allowed Indanger to coast home as he pleased.
Reward Me, with Antonio Bishop aboard, tried to make a race of it from early but Indanger dismissed him rather disdainfully and he had to settle for second position.
Third place went to Mingun Temple, with Juan Crawford in the saddle, while the Kenny John-partnered Dany Dany finished fourth.
Indanger was the second of two wins for Trotman, as he had won the day's opening race, The Rotherley Construction Inc. "Quality" Trophy Condition, with the Andrew Nunes-trained Outeniqua.
Amanyara, ridden
by Keveh Nicholls, tried
to make all the running
in the opening event
but was passed close home by Outeniqua with Trotman aboard.
Three other jockeys
also registered two
wins on the day's
nine-race card.
Back-to-back wins
Reigning champion jockey Andy Ward scored back-to-back wins on Yours Truly in the
1 000-metre Woodworks Trophy Condition,
and with Rocamadour in the 1 800-metre Rotherley Holdings Inc. Challenge Trophy Handicap. Both
horses were trained
by Robert Peirce.
Reshawn Latchman also landed a back-to-back double. His first win came aboard the Ken
Stanton-trained Azwa
in the Rotherley Construction Inc. Sprint Trophy Handicap going 1 100 metres, and he repeated on Soca Queen, trained by Peirce, in the
1 570-metre Vuemont Trophy Handicap.
The fourth jockey
to land a double, also back-to-back, was Juan Crawford, whose wins came in the day's eighth and ninth races.
Upset win
He piloted the John Simpson-trained Kudami to an upset win in the Rotherley Construction Inc. "Small Works" Trophy Condition (Division "A") going 1100 metres, and returned
in the final event to push St Nicholas Bay, trained by Boston John,
to a hard-earned win in the 1 100 metres "Small Works" Trophy, Division "B".
The day's other
winning jockey was
seven-pound claiming apprentice Kyle Carter, who scored on Inherit The Wind for trainer Liz Deane in the Rotherley Construction Inc.
"No Compromise" Trophy Handicap.
