After two weeks of classroom teaching about the National Heroes of Barbados, the children of Olga Millar Nursery School of Six Roads, St Philip, had an opportunity to visit a number of landmarks that celebrate those special Barbadians yesterday.
Ninety children, along with staff and parents, made an extensive bus tour to see the statues and sites created in memory of the National Heroes.
Lucille Goddard, principal of the school, said stops included Government Headquarters, Bay Street, where a bust of Sir Grantley Adams is mounted; the Sir Frank Walcott Building at Collymore Rock where a statue of Sir Frank stands; and Kensington Oval, where a statue of Sir Garfield Sobers towers over the entrance.
Barbadians celebrate National Heroes Day tomorrow.
