St Philip South and St Michael South pulled off big wins in the National Sports Council/Youth Development Programme Under-17 Football Tournament on Friday.
A plethora of goalscorers lifted St Philip South to a 9-0 victory against St George North at Brereton, while a beaver-trick by Shakeem Boyce and a hat-trick from Winston Maynard set up St Michael South’s 8-0 success against St Thomas at Passage Road.
Six players found the nets for St Philip with double strikes from Jazz Gittens, Kemshon Wilkinson Tyreque Nurse supported by goals from Akeil Lorde, Tyrese Crawford and Damario Moore.
St Michael South scored five times in the first 25 minutes against St Thomas with Boyce netting in the 14th and 15th minutes and Maynard in the 5th and 23rd minutes. The other goal was supplied by Kevon Lucas in the 13th minute.
St Michael South East also completed an impressive 4-1 win against City of Bridgetown at Passage Road with the help a double strike from Ishaeem Ellis and goals from Javonte Harewood and Ray Francis.
In the other match at the same venue, a first half goal from Donta Greenidge was enough for St Michael South Central to beat St Michael East.
St Philip North were also in winners’ row at Brereton, defeating St Joseph 3-0 with a brace by Shakeel Alleyne and a goal from Shaved Maynard. In the other match, St Philip West and St John played to a 1-1 draw. (HG)
