UWI cruise into semis

SAGICOR UWI turned in a clinical display of all-round cricket to crush Police by 76 runs in the second quarter-final of the Sagicor General Twenty20 Championship at Kensington Oval on Thursday night.

Sent in, UWI posted a formidable 183 for five in the first innings and then routed Police for 107 in 20 overs

The well-drilled UWI unit jolted Police with their bold strokeplay before stifling them through sleek ground fielding and sure-handed catching.

West Indies One-Day International player Jonathan Carter, who was mis-stumped off Stefan Gooding at 17 and dropped off pacer Trevor Ifill on 45, went on to top score with 51 (3x4s, 2x6s, 34 balls). Opening batsman Cameron Pennyfeather made 38 before he was run out in the final over.
