“Smooth running for Grand Kadooment”

Like clockwork. That’s how event producer Aja has described this year’s Republic Bank Grand Kadooment.

The National Cultural Foundation official told NATIONNEWS the annual Crop Over parade was about 30 minutes ahead of schedule.

This was a result of how marshals and officials operated at the National Stadium. Although bands pulled numbers to parade in a particular order, once a band was ready, it was sent before the judges.

Aja said six bands did not show and two others went on the road without facing the judges.

“Right now the behaviour on the street is very, very, very good. We are seeing people from all walks of life, all ages, all demographics, just enjoying Crop Over as one,” he said.

Additional security measures were also put in place this year.

The parade started at 8:30 a.m. and is scheduled to end at 6 p.m.

The party will continue at the Jet Blue Bridgetown Market on Spring Garden Highway. (SAT)
