Calypsonian and cultural ambassador Anthony “Gabby” Carter has been hospitalised.

He is currently undergoing tests at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, where he has been admitted as a patient since Thursday.

Gabby released a statement in poetry that was posted on the Facebook page of fellow calypsonian Kid Site. (NATIONNEWS)

The following is his statement:

Thanks for all the well wishes from family, friends and fans.

Please don’t ask what happened yet

Since I’m not at all sure

Here we seek a remedy

An answer or a cure

Sir Don’s daughter (our sweet Julie)

Has already contacted me

To her and all her still here kin

I offer deepest sympathy

Since I’m a public figure

(Like my friend Santy)

When all the tests and so on is done

You will know what happened to me

Please Do Not Panic

I am confident

That I will be fine

If not then surely you must know

I had a wonderful time

On this here earth

(Sometimes giving birth)

To songs that are well known

Some got labelled as classics

Others made some people groan

All in all in these fifty odd years

Of singing and composing

(Playing a bit of guitar as well)

I enjoyed everything

If it turns out that all is well

Then do rejoice with me

But if the opposite is the truth

Face the reality

And reminisce

With joy and bliss

If I made you happy

If I offended you in any way

My deepest apology.
