AS THE NEWEST BODY in the public transport sector prepares to meet with the Transport Authority today, the war of words between the organisations representing public service vehicle (PSV) operators raged yesterday.

Members of those bodies squared off on a radio talk show on the contentious issue of the proposed uniform shirts with the Transport Authority logo on the sleeve. The introduction of the new shirts has been pushed back from this month to March.

Chairman of the Association of Private Transport Operators (APTO), Morris Lee, and public relations officer of the Alliance Owners of Public Transport (AOPT) Mark Haynes, revisited the touchy issue after agreeing there was need for greater discipline in the sector. The two, along with attorney Laticia Bourne, who previously sat on the Transport Authority, were guests on Starcom Network’s Brass Tacks Sunday.(HLE)
