A sideboard said to have been given to the legendary pirate Sam Lord as a house-warming gift for his Barbados castle; a 20-seater Georgian dinner table set with the finest period ware and illuminated with a crystal chandelier from Barbados’ best known mansion, Sam Lord’s Castle; and a house furnished with an array of ornate antiques provided the ideal setting for an unforgettable evening at Lancaster Great House recently.

It was the setting the Barbados Tourism Product Authority (BPTA) chose for the hosting of its second reception for visitors who remain loyal to Barbados.

The guests were full of praise for an evening of great food, good music played by young Barbadians musicians and the warmth of the hospitality of Tourism Minister Kerrie Symmonds, the BTPA team headed by acting CEO Marsha Alleyne, Lancaster’s John and Rain Chandler, legends of West Indies cricket and other invited guests.

It was an evening when British marine police officer Dawn Wood was also recognised for her amazing feat of rowing solo across the Atlantic. (GC)
