DIPLOMATIC REPRESENTATIVES of European countries joined Barbadians representing the cultural industries for the official opening of the tenth European Film Festival at the Errol Barrow Centre for Creative Imagination Wednesday night.

Head of the European Union Delegation to Barbados, Ambassador Mikael Barfod welcomed the proclamation of Barbados’ recent Cultural Industries Development Act.

He said it opened the door for people in the business of cultural industries to take advantage of opportunities in this area now available through the Economic Partnership Agreement.film-festival-201526

However Barfod said the EU wanted to see private sector support of cultural industries “ramped up further” for the fullest exploitation of the potential of culture and to boost Barbados’ foreign exchange earnings. (GC)
