One hundred?and seven golfers from Barbados, other Caribbean countries, England and Canada contested the 2012 RBC Royal Bank Classic, hailed as a success by organizers and sponsors.
During the presentation ceremony, staged Sunday night at the Barbados Golf Club (BGC) at the end of the two-day tournament, Barbados Golf Association president Hadley Byer praised the club, sponsors and players for their part in making the eighth Classic a success.
The club was commended by players and officials for producing a course at Durants, Christ Church that supported keen competition over the two days and challenged the golfers.
Rae Skinner, RBC’s market head for business banking, said the sponsors were proud to be associated with such a tournament that was growing in popularity and were equally pleased to assist with the development of golf on the island.
She added that RBC also had a proud history of supporting golf internationally, as sponsors of the Caribbean Golf Championships, the Canadian Open and professional tour players such as Luke Donald and Ernie Els.
