“I will eat it, but I am sorry I can’t do something to keep it for life.”
So said Garnet Issacs, 65, of his duck-shaped golden apple fruit.
The Oistins, Christ Church resident said he was shocked when he went to pick the fruits on Monday from a tree on his premises.
“I was surprised when I realized it was deformed. It is a sign of the times. I have never seen anything like this,” he said.
The golden apple, which is known scientifically as Spondias dulcis, has a myriad of uses; it can be eaten freshly picked or used to make a refreshing drink, jams, cooked in stews, among other uses. (MM)
