CORONER Faith Marshall-Harris will on Friday, December 3, be going to the area in Arch Cot Terrace, Brittons Hill, St Michael, where five people died when their apartment complex collapsed in 2007.
And she will be taking a number of people with her to the locus in quo.
The coroner announced her visit to the site yesterday, during the continuation of the inquest into the deaths of Donavere Codrington, his wife Cassandra and her three children.
Among the people she listed to go to the crash scene were Chief Town Planner Mark Cummins; geologist Sydney Robertson, who conducted studies of the area; the Chief Technical Officer in the Ministry of Transport and Works; members of the Barbados Defence Force who examined the cave; residents David and Lionel Benn; as well as Lemuel Rawlins, who sold the land at Arch Cot Terrace.
She has also asked for representatives from SB testing and Engineering Ltd, HydroTech Caribbean Inc., the Caribbean Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology, ACE?Engineering, Hart Surveyors, and C. O. Williams Construction.
Attorney David Comissiong, who is representing the interest of Donavere Codrington, asked the court to also summon Professor Hans Machel, a specialist in earth and atmospheric science at the University of Alberta in Canada, who conducted an independent study of the cave after the apartment collapsed.
The coroner pointed out that she would explore the possibility of getting the professor here.
She also stated that the area would have to be debushed.
During yesterday’s inquest, the packed courtroom heard testimony from a number of people, including police crime scene examiner Inspector Roderick Walcott.
