STEVE STOUTE isn’t into the blame game. Nor wrongfully accepting fault for the country’s sporting woes.
Forget pointing fingers at the Barbados Olympic Association (BOA), says long-serving president Steve Stoute, who revealed that the BOA was not responsible for producing athletes or even qualifying them for major meets.
Stoute was responding to the widespread public criticism of Barbados’ recent failures at international events – most recently the London Olympics where the country sent its smallest ever contingent of six athletes.
“We are only an umbrella body, because we still rely on the national associations to provide us with athletes and coaches,” said the 70-year-old retired insurance executive in an interview with SUNSPORT.
