SAGICOR FINANCIAL CORPORATION’S proposed plan to relocate its registered office from Barbados will have no impact on the operations of its subsidiary Sagicor General Insurance Inc.
Sagicor General president and chief executive officer David Alleyne made this clear to the media today.
He said while some public statements suggested that Sagicor’s operations, including the life insurance company and general insurance operation which employ 100 people in Barbados would be affected, this was untrue.
Alleyne addressed the “misunderstanding” this afternoon during a Press conference at Sagicor General’s Haggatt Hall, St Michael office.
Alleyne said there would be no job losses nor increased policy premiums affecting Sagicor General customers in Barbados or elsewhere in the Caribbean as a result of the relocation of the non-operating entity.
“I want to make it clear that the operations of Sagicor General and Sagicor Life are all continuing to operate in Barbados and the other territories without any changes. The companies have been operating for over 100 years and that remains unchanged,” Alleyne said.
“We are continuing to serve the Barbados public. In fact, during this year and into the future Sagicor General will continue to make investments into the Barbados economy in multiple ways. Our level of sponsorship and support for the activities of our people remains significant and undiminished.” (SC)
