THE DISCUSSION about Barbados having a 24-hour workday has been perverted by a “small section of players” with selfish interests at heart, says general secretary of the Barbados Workers’ Union (BWU), Toni Moore.
While addressing the union’s two-day workshop as part of International Women’s Day at the BWU Labour College, Mangrove, St Philip, Moore said the discussion began with positive intent but has now been degraded.
“I find that in recent times, the focus has been less on the social partnership and more on small businesses where it seems the objective is not to tap into benefits for everyone, but instead for a small section of players who would like to see us eradicated over time,” she said. (CA)
