CHIEF JUSTICE Sir Marston Gibson said the drug treatment court is working so well that people want to get in on the programme.

He was speaking to a group of law and Caribbean studies students from the Combermere School who were touring the Supreme and Magistrates Courts today.

The students sat in on cases in the Court of Appeal; heard a bail application that involved a 16-year-old and observed Magistrate Frederick Douglas as he presided in the District “A” Criminal Court No.1

Registrar of the Supreme Court Barbara Cooke-Alleyne outlined the structure and procedure of the court system to the young ones. They were also given a brief bit of advice from defence counsel Andrew Pilgrim QC about how everyday activities can turn tragic.

Students also got a chance to question Sir Marston about how the system of justice operated and whether some convicts received leniency. (AC)
