The decision on whether or not there will be a Crop Over this year rests with Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley.

That was disclosed yesterday by Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office, Dr Shantal Munro-Knight, following a tour of the Archives Department in Black Rock, St Michael.

“Unfortunately, I cannot speak to that. The Prime Minister remains the substantive minister for culture, and I will leave that announcement to her. My portfolio is emerging, but I do have day-to-day responsibility for culture, so that is really my priority portfolio at the moment,” she said.

Late last month, president of the Entertainment Association of Barbados, Rudy Maloney, said they were to meet with the National Cultural Foundation to discuss whether Crop Over will be cancelled for the third straight year because of COVID-19. (RA)
