BRITAIN’S PRINCE HARRY arrived in Barbados yesterday for a whirlwind of events which on the first day included inspecting the troops, calling on the Governor General and Prime Minister, awarding outstanding young people and visiting the wards at the Nightingale Children’s Home, all while the island was under a flood warning.

The prince, currently fifth in line to the British throne, is on a four-day visit to take part in premier activities marking the island’s 50th anniversary of Independence.

He called on Governor General Sir Elliott Belgrave during the Duke of Edinburgh presentation of awards, and met with Prime Minister Freundel Stuart and was introduced to the Cabinet at Ilaro Court.

Today is expected to be another packed day of events as Prince Harry takes part in a toast to the nation and the delayed reveal of the national monument at the Garrison Savannah, and mega concert at Kensington Oval. (AC)
