PAINT, POWDER AND BACCHANAL. This was the vibe from last weekend at Pirate’s Cove at Spice J’ouvert which was organised by GRENSAC (Grenada Students Association at Cave Hill Campus of the West Indies) and Island Roots.
One of the organisers, Jarrell Fenton, said he was happy with in patrons at the second-time event.
The well-organised paint and powder fete was hosted by media personality Vanye, who kept the partiers entertained during minor technical glitches.
DJs, such as Monstapiece, Sheldon Papp Level Vibes, Evolution Vayne, Jesse.T and Kidwe, Jay-L and Big Mike, Skinny Genius and Stallion catered to all Caribbean islands through the music with little international representation – a move welcomed by the dancing crowd.
Ducking by Fadda Fox was among the crowd favorites, along with a number of Trinidadian selections (Full Extreme by Ultimate Rejects, Single by Orlando Octave, Haunted and Lip Service by Machel Montano).
Those dub and rap lovers were also taken care of, with a hefty selection of the both genres which took the pumpers into the sunrise element. After, the J’ouvert picked right back up with its soca selection and took the colourful West Indian affair to a hyped ending. (CSG)
