Sources said the workers intended to report to work but do nothing until the issue of the replacement of their ten per cent gratuity was dealt with.
Earlier this year they went on strike protesting the removal of the gratuity from their monthly pay last January. But CARDI officials said the removal brought them in line with colleagues in the region who received their payment at year-end.
However, sources said at a meeting in May, at which labour officials were present, the decision was made to reinstate the ten
per cent gratuity with immediate effect. A month later, this had yet to happen.
"We will report for work but we will not do anything," an employee said. The action is expected to continue through the week.
