According to a writ filed in the Supreme Court last Friday by Queen's Counsel Alair Shepherd of Inn Chambers, on Alleyne's behalf, the words "in their natural and ordinary meaning, the defendants meant and were understood to mean that the plaintiff was dishonest, lacking in integrity and was unfit to act as president of the BCA".
The writ further states that "by reason of the said publication the plaintiff has been gravely injured in his character, credit and reputation", and claims damages for defamation in an unspecified amount, interest and costs.
The law firm of Carrington and Sealy is representing Starcom Network Inc. and a spokesman said yesterday evening the action was being defended.
