FTC forum on Price Cap Mechanism
Published on: 10/4/07.
BARBADIANS will get to learn more about the system which governs how their phone rates are set when the Fair Trading Commission holds a public Education Forum on the Price Cap Mechanism.
The forum, which will be held at the Dining Club, Manor Lodge, Green Hill, St Michael, on Tuesday, October 9, from 10 a.m. until noon, is part of the ongoing public consultation on the review of the price cap rate-setting system that was implemented just over three years ago.
During this meeting the FTC will describe how this type of regulation works and give explanations in less technical language of the various aspects of price cap regulation, for example service baskets and the price index.
The meeting will provide the opportunity for members of the public to ask questions and seek clarification on relevant matters. The Price Cap Mechanism has a wide scope, covering telecommunication services that affect the everyday life of Barbadians such as residential fixed lines, call waiting, international calls and business lines.
In a statement, the FTC urged the public to take part, as this educational forum would assist people in participating in the public consultation process. By doing so, the public can help shape the way the price cap will be implemented in the next period.
Persons may reserve their seat by calling the commission's office at 424-0260. (PR)
