Upsets in Premier League football

THERE WERE TWO MAJOR UPSETS in Digicel Premier League football at Dover on Tuesday night with Ajax Construction Silver Sands losing their first match of the season.
Title contenders Silver Sands, who had gone 13 matches without defeat, finally went down to mid-table Tudor Bridge, who won 2-1 through a decisive 87th minute strike by Sherwin Cadogan.
Garfield Browne had opened the scoring for Tudor Bridge in the fifth minute, but two minutes later Jason Blackman equalised for Silver Sands.
But Cadogan's game-winner virtually dashed Silver Sands' championship hopes, leaving them on 23 points, seven behind leaders Arawak Cement Youth Milan with four matches left.
There was also a surprise result in the opening game with Carib Eden Stars securing three important points when they defeated Barbados Defence Force 2-1.
Nicholas King and Ian Jones were on target for the Stars, who inched away from the cellar position for the first time this season, moving into eighth position on 11 points.
Kenny Sealy got the lone goal in another disappointing display by the Kevin Millard-coached army outfit.
Tudor Bridge, in sixth position with 19 points, will be back in action tonight at the National Stadium against defending champions Claytons Kola Tonic Notre Dame at 6:30 p.m.
In the feature match at 8:30 p.m., First Call Brittons Hill will tackle Pride Of Gall Hill, which is now being coached by former Barbados midfielder Roderick Huggins in what should be a very keenly contested affair. (ES)
