PEP: Say who paid DLP piper
Published on: 1/19/08.
THE People's Empowerment Party (PEP) has called on Prime Minister David Thompson to disclose the names of the financiers of the Democratic Labour Party's (DLP) general election campaign.
PEP president David Comissiong, an unsuccessful candidate in Tuesday's poll, said it was important the people of Barbados be told.
Comissiong said the new DLP Administration had said it was for "integrity legislation".
"If the Barbadian people are to take this seriously, then the first evidence of such a commitment to integrity legislation must be the voluntary public disclosure of the identities of the DLP's financiers.
"We make these observations against the background of a general election in which the Democratic Labour Party and the Barbados Labour Party spent money on a truly enormous and unprecedented scale," he said. (ES)
