THE Barbados Netball Association (BNA) has hailed Cable & Wireless for their sponsorship of the island's No.1 women's sport for the past
three years.
Speaking at the unveiling of the national team for the World Championship in New Zealand from November 10 to 17 on Thursday at the Cable & Wireless' head office in Wildey, BNA's president Octavia Gibson said each year the telecommunications company has substantially increased their sponsorship.
"We are very thankful for their contribution, and as we go to New Zealand, they have also contributed to that effort," Gibson said.
Apart from their financial assistance, Cable & Wireless will once again be outfitting the national senior team, which came seventh at the 2003 World Tournament in Jamaica.
Jo-Ann Haynes, Cable & Wireless' account manager-sales said her company was pleased to be a corporate partner with the BNA and wished
the team success at the World Tournament.
Gibson, who recently replaced the long-serving Annette Beckett, called on Barbadians to support the national team, which still needed a further $52 000 to meet the cost of going to New Zealand.
"Barbados are currently rated third in the region and seventh in the world and are the highest rated team sport in Barbados. As we prepare for New Zealand, we are urging all Barbadians to rally behind our national team and let us feel your presence as we journey down under," Gibson said. (EZS)
