MOTHER OF FOUR Anita Griffith was remembered yesterday as an outgoing woman who brought laughter to all.
In fact, her death was said to have cast a pall over the neighbourhood of Hannays, St Lucy.
Griffith perished when the house in which she rented a room went up in flames early Sunday morning.
She was the mother of four children three boys aged two, 13 and eight and a girl, and also leaves to mourn her mother and father, along with two sisters and four brothers.
One sister, Heather Wiltshire, remembered Griffith as someone who loved to laugh.
"She was a joyful person. She never used to let anything bother her," she said.
Fighting back tears, the sister said she was "taking it one day at a time".
"What really, really still has me is the call (from Griffith's boyfriend Adrian Holmes) 'Heather, Anita pass away'. It was unbelievable," she said.
"Most people would have spoken to her on Saturday and to know on Sunday that is what we're faced with . . . ."
Family friend Nadeen Brome also remembered Griffith as a friendly person.
"Her death cast a pall over the district because everybody feels bad about it," Brome said.
"It's really hurtful to see how she died," she said, adding she did not at first believe the news.
Meanwhile, boyfriend Adrian Holmes told the DAILY NATION he had since been relocated by the National Assistance Board, to Summerland Guest House, Pickwick Gap, St Michael. (H-LE)
