Christ the focus of May

IT SEEMS as if the month of May this year is going to be special in many ways.
Christians will be observing Jesus Week from May 3 to May 10, and a special feature of this event will be Government minister Dr Esther Byer-Suckoo.
On May 9 she will be taking on a different role when she will be ministering at the Wildey Gymnasium. s
Under the theme As Strong As The Weakest Family, the inter-denominational Christian community in this island will come together for a number of events celebrating Christ and seeking to bring families closer to him for healing.
Byer-Suckoo said yesterday that Jesus Week also coincided with Child Month and promised it would be an exciting week as her Ministry of Family, Youth Affairs, Sports and the Environment would be working on assisting families.
Moral decline
"This ministry was born out of a concern as to where families are going with the moral decline and violence in our society. You cannot address the social ills without God," she said.
She added that she was particularly pleased about the conference planned for May 7 entitled A Nation That Works Together, because it will provide an opportunity to look at HIV/AIDS and what needs to happen on gender and child issues, including child abuse.
A big part of the week will be Super Gospel with the Nazarene Silvertones and international singers Rachel Washington and Kay Morris. (WB)
