PROPER!
If you haven't gone as yet, then you are definitely missing out on some of the finest pork in Bim.
Hundreds of "pork mouts" have been flocking to the Cable & Wireless Pork Lime every Friday, eating up thousands of pounds of pork over the last five weeks, in the festive atmosphere of what has become Crop-Over's newest and most attractive event.
The lime, which was originally supposed to be held every other week, has now become one of the most popular after-work spots for the Crop-Over season, offering a variety of jerk pork, barbequed pork chops, spare ribs, barbequed pigtails, roast pork, pudding n' souse, ham cutters, and more.
And there's also this season's biggest hits being played by a dee jay.
Last Friday night, patrons partied with popular artistes Nathalee Burke, Pong, and Contone, who performed a number of their 2008 tunes.
Pong and Contone, though barely audible, had the audience in stitches with their antics. The crowd loved them both, drawing near to the stage and howling like dogs as Pong said "Aaaaroooh".
Moet/Hennessy brand manager Antonio Arthur and his team, who are sponsoring the event, are amazed at the crowd response, and business has been going really well with their promotions.
Hal Prescod of M & H Catering and Rental Services is one of the caterers for the lime. Prescod said the first week, that he was contracted to prepare one pig, but by the second week that had changed.
"It took everyone by surprise. From the second week I had to bring like 300 pounds of pork. Right now the demand is so great it is usually between 400 to 500 pounds that I have to prepare each week," he said.
Patrons partied until well after midnight and most will be heading there again on Friday, this time to get a glimpse of popular Trinidadian artiste Machel Montana. (CT)
