DLP bringing Lashley to the people tomorrow
Published on: 6/23/06.
DEMOCRATIC LABOUR PARTY (DLP) LEADER, DAVID THOMPSON, will be at the helm of party members tomorrow, when they canvass the Christ Church West Central constituency in support of candidate, Stephen Lashley.
The team starts at Vauxhall Primary School and will cover the areas of Warners, Briar Hall, Kendal Hill and Silver Hill, among others. Government backbencher Joseph Edghill is the representative of the constituency.
Lashley, an attorney-at-law, is one of 14 candidates ratified by the party to contest the next general election, and is first out of the blocks in mobilising the mass canvass machinery.
He is the holder of a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Administration and Law and a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus.
He previously worked as a journalist with the Barbados Advocate, Caribbean Broadcasting Corporation, Barbados Rediffusion Services Limited and Voice of Barbados.
He was also once employed in the Public Service as a public relations officer with the Government Information Service.
Lashley said his entrance into elective politics was an opportunity to offer further service to Barbados.
He said his extensive examination of the Christ Church West Central constituency had revealed facets of Barbados which were not in consonance with the developed 21st Century model the current Government wanted to show the world.
He said it was not a situation he was comfortable with and his objective was to "negate the neglect." (PR)
